Lately, MTG has gotten me thinking. For those not in the know, GOP Senator Marjorie Taylor-Green, one of the loudest proponents of anti-Democrat speech, has done something rather shocking. Well, actually, the Georgia-based politician did multiple things that were shocking:
She put her name on the list of supporting representatives who wanted to release the Epstein files. This is a clear, very bold break with the Trump party line that wants to cover up the sex abuse of young women.
She also refused to back down on this. She refused to take her name off the docket, making her one of only a handful of GOP reps to stand up for what is right.
After the squabble, she told her aides the truth. She said, “I told them, ‘You didn’t get me elected. I do not work for you; I work for my district.” (Well, hot damn.)
Due to threats she’s received, she also came forward to give people a heads up. She said she’s not suicidal and that if anything happens to her, it’s murder.
Far be it for my leftist ass to say so, but fucking hell, I’m impressed by her right now. She’s a lot more badass than most of our politicians — and yes, I’m including leftists there.
I don’t agree with most of her politics, but I’ll be blunt. The woman actually is standing up in a way that would shake many of us to the core to do so. That’s ballsy.
MTG is not the only female Republican to break ranks with Trump.
Lauren Boebert has also taken a stand. Nancy Mace, being fairly spineless, went back to the party line. But even though there are only three female GOP politicians, the truth is that it’s still very telling.
All of the women who have broken the party line have one thing in common: they want the Epstein files to be released. It may seem like a dumb thing, but the truth is that it’s far, far more revealing than what we think.
In the past, GOP congresswomen and senators would occasionally break on things like being pro-life or voting against women’s rights. However, that tendency has continued to shrink for the past 30 years.
Even in 2018, over 50 percent of GOP voters said they approved of the Roe v. Wade ruling and didn’t want it to be overturned. Shockingly, once Trump started calling for the overturn, a lot of those people changed their stances.
I guess Trumpism will do that to a gal, but the truth is that this is still a big deal. In an age where standing up to politicians and police forces can get you disappeared, it’s remarkable that it’s GOP women who seem to be the ones willing to put their necks on the line.
It seems like the seeds of rebellion were planted a while back.

It may seem rather sudden and shocking at first glance, because it (kind of) is. However, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been moments where it became clear that many right-wing women started to wake up to the trajectory of their party.
Even back when Roe first got overturned, a lot of us noticed something brewing. A lot of the women who were so vocal about their anti-abortion stance got quieter, more subdued, even a little visibly shaken.
I remember seeing right-wing women looking a little extra skittish after the downfall of Roe. It seemed like they realized the dog caught the wheel — and that they would never be as powerful as the men they helped prop up.
There was also the “Big Beautiful Bill,” with that Alaskan senator, Murkowski. Her look mirrored that same “I fucked up” look I saw on so many women after Roe fell.
I think this might be a major turning point in America’s future.
MTG and Boebert standing up for the Epstein list might seem like a small thing in the grand scheme of things. Heck, it’s actually pretty on the actual “claimed” party line — personal accountability, anti-pedophilia, criminal justice.
However, we shouldn’t discount this.
This is a huge deal.
Fascism only survives when women prop up men and willingly go along with the program. In a fascist world, women are treated as livestock and currency to be doled out to men. They have no rights, including no right to divorce or family planning.
Without women agreeing to let the fascism take over, there is no fascism. It’s not just a matter of having enough votes. It’s that women are literally half the population. The numbers don’t match up.
I’m curious to see how this will all shake out. It seems like a growing number of women in the world of the right wing have started to realize that they are not immune to the brutal, often dishonest ways of fascism.
Wouldn’t it be something to see women across both sides of the spectrum unite against the stripping of their rights? While I’m not totally optimistic, stranger things have happened. And so far? It’s enough to make the T-man sweat.
It’s interesting times, so to speak. I’m still amazed to see MTG actually doing something that’s both patriotic and downright badass. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see a redemption arc of sorts for some of the more surprising players in this story.
